Manila, nuestro campamento base

Manila fue nuestro primer y último destino de Filipinas. Llegamos un día lluvioso desde Singapur, donde el piloto del avión ya nos indicaba que atravesaríamos un tifón, y que no nos preocuparamos... ok! no pasa nada, gracias! A las 5 de la mañana habíamos llegado, y teníamos que esperar para ir a una hora decente al hostal... vale, dónde? El aeropuerto era muy pequeño por fuera, así que cogímos un taxi hasta el hostal. Nos timaron con 10 euros de taxi, son timos, pero bueno, ya ven que cantidades exhorbitantes :) Después aprenderíamos cómo va el tema de los taxis en Filipinas.

Vigan y Baguio, recorrido por Luzón

Hay veces en los que la pachorra de no informarnos bien y la confianza de que antes o después llegaremos a nuestro siguiente destino nos mete en unos berenjenales... Y esto fue lo que pasó en nuestro "viajecito" desde las terrazas de arroz de Batad hasta la ciudad de Vigan, y con berenjenal me refiero a tener que soportar muchas más horas de viaje de las que teníamos en mente!! Lo vamos a relatar con detalle porque no tiene desperdicio...

Sobre el mapa las dos ciudades deben estar a unos 200km de distancia (piensas, por mucho tiempo que sea no pasaremos de las 4-5 horas entre esperas, etc.) pero sorpresas te da la vida... Salimos del pueblo de Batad a las 7 de la mañana, para poder recorrer tranquilamente las dos horitas de caminata por la montaña que separan al pueblo de la carretera más próxima, en la que debíamos coger un jeepney a las 9 de la mañana como tarde (por lo visto solo circulan entre las 6 y las 9 :S ). Etapa superada, aunque eso de estar empapados de sudor a las 9 de la mañana sin ninguna ducha prevista en unas horas no es nada agradable!!! Cogimos el jeepney previsto hasta Banaue, dónde debíamos investigar como llegar hasta Vigan. Muy amablemente en la oficina de turismo nos indicaron una secuencia de jeepneys con diferentes destinos: jeepney a Legawe, jeepney a Solano y allí buscad un bus a Vigan. Ok, perfecto, una horita el primer jeepney (carretera de curvas sin fin) y una horita el segundo jeepney a Solano (a tope de gente, bolsas, cajas de huevos...).

Batad y sus terrazas de arroz

Llegamos a Banaue sobre las 5 de la mañana desde Manila, después de unas 8 horas en un gélido autobus. Banaue es la ciudad más emblemática de Luzón, por sus bancales de arroz declarados Patrimonio Mundial por la UNESCO. Y aunque las casas y su tipo de construcción, con chapas de aluminio, afean el panorama, aún se puede apreciar el hermoso paisaje que nos ofrece.

Sabang, geniales fondos marinos de Filipinas!!

Filipinas, cuánto para descubrir... Aunque algunas cosas no! Sabíais que aquí cuentan con los números en castellano? Y que para bajar de un jeepney (minibus) gritan "para!"? Nosotros no teníamos ni idea y nos ha resultado muy divertido llegar a Manila y encontrar que las calles se llaman Pedro Gil Street, Remedios, San Pedro o Felipe Agoncillo. Y qué decir de la España Boulevard, que es un gran avenida en la que todas las calles perpendiculares se llaman Extremadura, Galicia, Dos Castillas, Don Quijote, etc. Debe de ser que extraño el hogar y cada uno de estos nombres me hacen sonreír! Aunque se podrían haber ahorrado algunos nombres como Bonifacio que todavía se escucha por aquí... También hay alguien llamado José Pajarillo, juas juas, me encanta!!!
